JOB SUMMARY

The Center for a Humane Economy is seeking a creative, strategic, and results-oriented Social Media Manager to lead and grow our digital presence across major social media platforms. With social media now serving as a primary news source for millions of people, this position plays a critical role in ensuring that our message reaches key audiences, influences public discourse, and inspires meaningful action.

DUTIES

Social Media Strategy & Audience Growth

  1. Refine and grow our organic social media strategy across Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube
  2. Develop and implement a new strategy for our brand across TikTok
  3. Create and execute monthly and quarterly social media plans that support organizational priorities, campaigns, and fundraising initiatives.
  4. Identify opportunities to expand audience reach, increase engagement, and strengthen supporter relationships.
  5. Stay informed about platform updates, digital trends, and best practices in social media marketing and advocacy communications.

Content Development & Storytelling

  1. Develop and publish compelling content that educates, inspires, and motivates audiences to engage in advocacy, make donations, and become recurring supporters.
  2. Create, edit, and optimize videos, podcasts, graphics, and other multimedia assets for use across digital channels.
  3. Collaborate with communications staff, leadership, and external partners to produce impactful content.
  4. Ensure content aligns with organizational messaging, branding, and campaign objectives.

Analytics, Reporting & Optimization

  1. Develop a thorough understanding of audience demographics, behaviors, interests, and engagement patterns.
  2. Monitor and analyze performance metrics across all social media channels.
  3. Prepare regular reports and presentations for executive leadership and communications teams, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  4. Conduct testing and experimentation to evaluate content effectiveness, audience engagement, and conversion performance.
  5. Recommend and implement improvements to content strategy, targeting, and platform-specific tactics based on data and analytics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience managing social media platforms for a nonprofit organization, advocacy campaign, media outlet, brand, or agency.
  2. Demonstrated success developing and executing social media strategies that drive engagement and growth.
  3. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  4. Proficiency with social media management, analytics, and reporting tools.
  5. Ability to interpret data and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
  6. Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  7. Passion for animal protection, public policy, advocacy, and mission-driven communications.
